Sunday 12 Mar 2017

Sunday is a day of rest in most places but not in the codger’s kennel. As it was a nice day, they decided to walk up to La Sarre on their snow shoes, and then climb over the pass towards the Belvedere and back through their woods in time for lunch (again, theirs not mine worse luck). Bless them, they kept going for three hours and we finally made it back. Blue was a bit grumpy at times with her blistered feet, but Grey was quite cheerful. I think he has got over the 1-0 loss by AFC Wimbledon.

The good thing about the walk was that it knackered both of them and there were many winks taken during the afternoon. Oddly, Grey watched a football match where one of the players was called “Winks”. Every time his name was mentioned in commentary, Blue Rinse fell asleep!

I managed to negotiate a slightly early mealtime with a cacophony of whimpering and whining. And then the codgers had theirs. Apparently today is an AFD. I asked what this meant and it stands for “alcohol free day”. Great I thought. I won”t have to pay the usual price for the gin they add to my water in the evening. No such luck. It means that they are keeping themselves free of booze for the day, and downright miserable they are tonight as a consequence. Roll out the barrel tomorrow mehopes. It could be worse, Lord B has AFMs when M stands for Month!!
